Stay

The lumbung
The rice barn shape
A lumbung is the traditional Balinese rice barn, known for its tall, curved roof. At Umah Lumbung the same shape becomes a place to stay: a wooden room under the roof, raised off the ground, with the cool air of Bedugul all around.
Anatomy of a lumbung
Four simple parts
The curved roof
A tall, rounded roof of timber shingles meeting in a crossed ridge. It is the silhouette that gives the lumbung its name and its character.
A wooden room
The room sits under the roof itself, so the curved timber ceiling is part of the space you sleep in.
Raised on posts
Traditional rice barns stand above the ground to keep the harvest dry. The cottages keep that lifted, airy footing.
Steps and terrace
A few wooden steps lead up to a small terrace looking onto the garden path.
